Occupational Therapy:
What is it all about?

The primary focus of Occupational Therapy is to assist people in becoming independent in their activities of daily living.  Contrary to popular belief, your job is not your occupation but your vocation.  The word occupation comes from "occupy" and therefore Occupational Therapists address all client difficulties with any activity that occupies time (self care, productivity and leisure). As this a broad task on which to focus, assessment and treatment is completed on a wide variety of problems ranging from physical injury, disability and/or illness due to mental illness.  This includes ages from pediatrics to geriatrics, in clinic, in the home and in the workplace.
