Home Visits
Most of HealthWorks services can be completed in the client's home if they are unable to travel to the clinic. Some of our services are best completed in the home environment such as pediatric occupational therapy sessions.
In addition, there are assessments specifically for the home and the tasks completed within the home:
1. Wheelchair Accessibility Assessments and Consultations: a person's home is their castle. It is critical that people can safely maneuver in, out of and within their homes. Our occupational therapists visit the home to make recommendations to make the entrance and the home in general more accessible. This is done by providing a number of options keeping in mind possible financial constraints.
2. Mental Health Consultations: a variety of mental disorders result in daily activities becoming unmanageable. Occupational therapists work with clients to achieve the functioning level they desire. This may include managing their finances, to reentering the workforce, to planning and making meals or to participate as an active community member. Occupational therapists meet with families and other health professionals to assist in meeting the goals of the client. At all times, the therapist acts as the client's advocate.
3. Bathroom and Kitchen Safety Assessments: due to the aging process or some specific illness or disability some people have difficulties completing self care tasks in the bathroom and/or tasks within the kitchen. An occupational therapist observes clients completing daily activities in order to assess any possible safety issues and subsequent recommendations. The goal is to promote each person's independence by either teaching them alternate methods or by providing adaptive equipment in order to make the task easier and safer.
